Use of the Discussion Board
IFAC discussion boards are forums for individuals to share their opinions, experiences, and thoughts about accountancy-related topics. IFAC wants to ensure the integrity of this service and, therefore, use of this service is limited to participants who agree to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Refrain from transmitting any message, information, data, or text that is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, that may be invasive of another's privacy, or hateful communications – especially those aimed at gender, race, color, sexual orientation, national origin, religious views, or disability.
- IFAC reserves the right to remove a post containing offensive material as defined by IFAC. That stated, IFAC does not have the practical ability to restrict conduct or communications prior to transmission and posting, nor can IFAC ensure prompt deletion of offensive posts.
- Refrain from posting or transmitting any unsolicited, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain mail," or any other form of solicitation or commercial advertisement. IFAC reserves the right to delete these posts immediately upon notice.
- IFAC invites and encourages a healthy exchange of opinions. If you disagree with a participant's post or opinion and wish to challenge it, do so with respect. The real objective of the discussion board is to promote discussion and understanding, not to convince others that your opinion is "right." Name calling, insults, and personal attacks are not appropriate and will not be tolerated. IFAC will remove these posts immediately upon notice.
- IFAC promotes privacy and encourages participants to keep personal information such as address and telephone number from being posted. Similarly, do not ask for personal information from other participants. Discussion board postings that request that participants submit personal information to another party will be removed immediately upon notice, unless these posts have been preapproved by IFAC. This includes, but is not limited to, communications that ask for telephone, address, email, surveys, and research studies.
- Discussion board participants should be aware that the opinions, beliefs, and statements posted in this forum do not necessarily represent the opinions and beliefs of IFAC. Participants also agree that IFAC is not to be held liable for any loss or injury caused, in whole or in part, by sponsorship of this message board. In addition, participants agree that IFAC reserves the right to report any suspicions of harm to self or others as evidenced by participant posts.
- Posting off-topic messages to a discussion board will result in removal of and the possible suspension of posting privileges.
- As a discussion board user, you agree that you are prohibited from using this site to commit fraudulent activities, violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulation. Furthermore, no communications passing through this site may be defamatory, libelous, unlawfully threatening or unlawfully harassing, obscene or contain any viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancelbots or other computer programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information. IFAC will take immediate action to prevent violators of this policy from using our site.
- The public areas of IFAC.org (i.e., those areas accessible without signing in to the site) are accessible to all users, regardless of age. However, areas that require sign-in prior to access are restricted to users 13 years of age and older. Under United States Federal Law, children under the age of 13 may not contribute any content, including stories or discussion forum posts. Persons under 13 years of age are, therefore, prohibited from registering for access to, or signing in to, these areas. IFAC shall not be held liable for consequences resulting from persons under 13 years of age registering for access to or signing in to the site.
Changes to the Terms of Use
IFAC reserves the right to amend or update the terms of use of the discussion board as needed. Any changes to the terms of use will be posted on the IFAC website with immediate effect.
