Aileen Pierce became chair of the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB) Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) in January 2012, having represented the European Accounting Association (EAA) on the IAESB CAG since 2008.

Dr. Pierce is currently an associate professor in accountancy at the University College Dublin (UCD) Quinn School of Business and served as director from 2007 to 2010. She also served as president of the EAA from 2009 to 2011.

Dr. Pierce began her career by qualifying as an Irish Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Dublin after obtaining a first class honors Bachelor of Commerce degree from UCD, where she later completed her Ph.D.

In addition to her teaching career, Dr. Pierce has contributed to continuing professional development courses for Chartered Accountants Ireland and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland, as well as teaching accountancy at the University of Zambia in the 1980s. She has co-authored books on group accounts and Irish financial reporting practice, and has published articles in the academic and professional press.

Dr. Pierce was a member of EAA’s Management Committee between 2003 and 2012, and was Congress Chair for the 29th annual congress of the EAA in Dublin in 2006. She is also past chair of the Irish Accounting and Finance Association, has served on the publications committee of Chartered Accountants Ireland and on the Accounting Standards Committee of the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies – Ireland, and was a member of the inaugural audit committee of An Garda Síochána (the Irish police force) until 2008.
