Amarjit Chopra became a member of the Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development Committee in January 2011. He was nominated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).

Mr. Chopra has more than three decades as a Chartered Accountant. He currently serves as president, ICAI and as a senior partner at GSA & Associates. During his tenure in the Central Council of the ICAI, he has been the chairman of the Accounting Standards Board, Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, and Corporate Laws Committee. He has also been the chairman of the Expert Advisory Committee, Financial Reporting Review Board, Committee on Corporate Governance, and Committee on Internal Audit of the Institute. Mr. Chopra served on the Board of Bank of Baroda for three years and is currently serving as an independent director with various reputed companies.

He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and holds a master's degree in commerce. Mr. Chopra has also contributed to many articles and is a frequent speaker at national and international seminars and conferences.
