Job Title: Head of Communications
Anthony (Tony) Mirenda is Head of Communications for the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
In this role, Tony develops and executes strategies that advance the global accountancy profession and IFAC’s public interest mission across various platforms. This includes oversight of all aspects of media relations, executive and leadership communications, issues and reputation management, and digital and social media communications. He also serves as a public representative of IFAC.
Tony has more than two and half decades of experience as a senior communications leader, providing counsel, strategy and program development that builds reputations and advances organizations’ strategic goals.
Most recently, Tony was Managing Director and Head of Global Communications for Moody’s Corporation, where he led the company’s worldwide communications strategy, media relations, reputation, internal communications, crisis and issues management and branding. During his tenure at Moody’s, Tony served as the senior company spokesman and provided strategic communications counsel to senior management, helping the company navigate the financial crisis and rebuild its reputation.
Prior to his time at Moody’s, Tony held leadership positions at Thomson Tax and Accounting, Makovsky and Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide where he helped not-for-profit and Fortune 500 companies create and execute focused, integrated communications plans.
Tony has an MBA in Marketing from Baruch College and a BA in Communications from the University at Buffalo.
