Brendan Murtagh

Brendan Murtagh joined the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board in January 2012. He was nominated by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Mr. Murtagh is a Fellow of the ACCA, having trained with a mid-sized practice, qualifying in 1991. He is a founding partner of the practice LHM Casey McGrath, which is based in Dublin, Ireland.

Mr. Murtagh leads the assurance function of the firm and has 20 years of relevant experience in advising clients in small- and medium-sized entities in a range of business sectors. His experience also includes the areas of insolvency, corporate consultancy, and litigation support. Mr. Murtagh leads the team within the firm that deals with professional services, financial services, and information and communications technology.

Mr. Murtagh is an active member of ACCA, where he is a past president in Ireland (2000-2001) and has represented ACCA Ireland on the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies—Ireland since 2000. In addition, he served as a member of the ACCA Global Council from 2000 to 2010 and as its global president for 2009-2010.
