Carmen Mataragiu joined the Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development Committee (then known as the Developing Nations Committee) in January 2010, nominated by the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania (CFAR).
In June 2012, Ms. Mataragiu became a member of the International Chamber of Commerce Group on Economic Policy. Previously, Ms. Mataragiu was a professor of accounting and finance at the at the F.S. Nitti Economic College of Timisoara.
Ms. Mataragiu became a member of the CFAR Board in 2006 and the president of the Board’s International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) Revision Commission in 2008, where she significantly contributed to the initiative to translate the clarified ISAs into Romanian. She is also the senior vice president of CFAR’s Council, elected in June 2011.
Ms. Mataragiu has been a member of the Tax Committee of the Romanian Tax Advisors Chamber since 2009 and is a member of Corpul Expertilor Contabili si Contabililor Autorizati din Romania (The Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania, or CECCAR), Uniunii Nationale a Practicienilor in Insolventa din Romania, and Uniunea Națională a Evaluatorilor Autorizați din România.
With over 20 years of experience as an accountant and auditor, as both a practitioner and non-practitioner, Ms. Mataragiu has been involved as a lecturer and trainer in a number of continuing professional development courses. In addition, she has authored several publications on accounting and auditing and is very involved in the development of the profession. In addition, she has served as a majority shareholder of the PKF Econometrica Group of companies (member of the PKF International network).
