David Smith

David Smith became a member of the Nominating Committee in January 2009. He was previously a member of IFAC’s Board from 2003 to 2007, serving as chair of the Special Board Constitution Committee as well as sitting on the Board’s Finance and Risk Management and Public Interest committees.

Mr. Smith was President and CEO of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants from 2001 to 2006. He had previously spent 36-years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, serving as a partner as well as holding numerous national and international leadership roles within the firm culminating as the Canadian Chair and Senior Partner. Now retired, Mr. Smith is currently Chair of the Government of Canada Audit Committee in Ottawa and is a consultant on Governance.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Windsor, is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow and holds Certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
