Gary Scopes

Gary Scopes became a member of the Developing Nations Committee in January 2008. He was nominated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Mr. Scopes has over 30 years of experience in the regulation of the accounting and auditing profession as a former executive director of the Society of Louisiana CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs and the Institute of Management Accountants. He is director of international relations at the AICPA and coordinates international strategies and activities for the AICPA. He also acts as liaison on mutual recognition agreements and trade issues with other countries.

Mr. Scopes is a Certified Association Executive and graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's degree in rhetoric/debate. In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Scopes has written articles for global publications and presented lectures at numerous universities and international forums on association management, ethics, and corporate governance.
