Greg Owens was appointed to the International Accounting Education Standards Board in January 2014 and was nominated by BDO International.
He is a Global Audit Director, responsible for special projects within his network firm. Prior to 2014, he spent 14 years a Director of Technical Training and Professional Qualifications at BDO LLP (UK). He served as a technical advisor on the IAESB from 2008 to 2014, supporting a BDO partner from Argentina (Marcelo Cannetti) and was an active member of the original Drafting Conventions, Drafting Working Group, and International Education Standard 8 task forces. Mr. Owens was appointed as a full member of the IAESB from January 2014.
Mr. Owens has experience in auditing financial services, leisure, and hospitality clients, providing audit methodology support to audit teams and delivering and developing training content (online, classroom, technical, and personal skills), both within his UK firm and at global level. He has taught in over 25 countries and has developed the BDO audit training curriculum as well as global training materials and content; and has also worked in the Washington, DC office of BDO as an audit manager in New York at a Director level.
Mr. Owens is a Fellow of the Institute Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and also serves as an appointed member of the ICAEW’s Assessment Committee, which approves each set of exam results, and has previously been a member of the ICAEW Syllabus Review Group (2012-2014) and ACA Advisory group (2006-2014). Additionally, he has served on the National Higher Apprenticeships working group for the UK profession (2011-2013).
