Jean Précourt

Jean Précourt became a member of the Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development Committee in January 2011. He was nominated by the Certified General Accountants' Association of Canada (CGA-Canada).

Mr. Précourt is president d'honneur and past president of the Federation Internationale des Experts-Comptables Francophones (FIDEF). He has worked in public practice as vice president of education for the Ordre des CGA du Québec, as a senior executive (chief financial officer, comptroller, and director) in several manufacturing and engineering firms, and for Via Rail. Until recently, he held the position of director of financial operations and assistant treasurer for Hydro-Québec. He has also served as a technical advisor to the IFAC Financial and Management Accounting Committee (1995-2000) and the IFAC Board (2008-2010).

Mr. Précourt is the academic director of the postgraduate program in accounting at the University of Sherbrooke, and a professor at the University du Québec à Montréal and McGill University, where he served on the Program Committee for the Diploma in Accounting. He also currently serves as first vice-chair of the Board of Directors of the Hospital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal, which is affiliated with the University de Montréal, and chairs the finance and auditing committees.

He holds a degree in accounting from the University of Montreal.
