Jose A. Echenique is a bankruptcy specialist, recognized by the Federal Institute of Bankruptcy Specialists, and professor at the Facultad de Contaduria y Administracion (Accounting and Business Schools), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)..He was previously the general director of Centro de Estudios de Las Finanzas Publicas de La Camara de Diputados (Public Finances Center, Mexican Congress), 2003-2005. He has also served as the president of the budgetary and public account commissions for UNAM and the dean of Centro Universitario Mexico graduate school (1992-1993) and Instituto de Ciencias Economicas Administrativas (Institute of Economic Administrative Sciences), Universidad Autonoma de Hidalgo.
Mr. Echenique is a member of the Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos, A.C. (IMCP) and the Public Accountants Association of Mexico, as well as the Mexican Academy of Integral Auditing, the Interamerican Association of Accountants, and a member and founder of the International Practice for Accounting and Administration Committee. He also served as president of the Latin-American Association of Schools of Accounting Sciences, 1995-1997, and of the National Association of Business and Accounting Schools, 1993-1997.
Mr. Echenique holds bachelor’s degrees in business administration and accounting from UNAM, an MBA from Columbia University (US), and a Ph.D. in operations research from UNAM. He is a Certified Public Accountant with IMCP and a registered Public Accountant with the Central Administration of Control and Evaluation of the Mexico Tax and Revenue Ministry
