Prof. Kazuo Hiramatsu joined the International Accounting Education Standards Board as a public member in 2010. He was nominated by the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He has over 30 years of teaching experience at Kwansei Gakuin University (Japan). Professor Hiramatsu has also taught at universities around the world, including Satya Wacana Christian University (Indonesia), the University of Glasgow (Scotland), the University of Washington (US) and Ma Chung University (Indonesia). From 2002‐2008, Prof. Hiramatsu also served as the president of Kwansei Gakuin University.

Throughout his career, Prof. Hiramatsu has held numerous leadership positions in various accountancy organizations, including vice president at the International Association for Accounting Education and Research, president of the Japanese Association for International Accounting Studies, international vice president for the American Accounting Association (AAA), and president of Japan Accounting Association.

Professor Hiramatsu has a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Business Administration of Kwansei Gakuin University. In 2005, he received the Outstanding International Accounting Educator Award from the AAA. An Honorary Doctoral Degree from Satya Wacana Christian University (Indonesia) was conferred on him in 2010.
