Keith Luck became a Permanent Observer to the IFAC Board in November 2014, representing the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Mr. Luck previously served on the IFAC Professional Accountants in Business Committee from 2006 to 2012.
Mr. Luck is President of CIMA, serving as Deputy President and Vice President previously. He has been a member of CIMA’s Council since 2006, qualifying as ACMA in 1986 and becoming a Fellow in 1993. He was a worldwide prize winner in a number of CIMA’s exams and CIMA’s Business Leader of the Year in 1993.
Mr. Luck is currently a Commercial & Financial Director with the international services company Serco plc, where he now rescues troubled contracts. He joined Serco in 2011 after leaving the UK’s Foreign Office where he was Director General Finance on the Management Board. Prior to this, Mr. Luck had been Director of Resources for the Metropolitan Police Service joining in 2000. In both these roles, Mr. Luck was the first qualified accountant on the respective boards.
Mr. Luck’s career began in the UK with BT where he won a scholarship to study management accountancy. He moved to Deloitte as a Consultant, then Midland Bank, and HSBC before returning to the public sector as Assistant Director Finance in a London Local Authority. He then moved to Lewisham Borough Council in 1997 as Director of Finance.
Mr. Luck is an Associate of the Association of Corporate Treasurers, a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, and a Fellow of the Institute of Management.
Mr. Luck graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in geography.
