Lisa A. Snyder became a member of the International Ethics Standards for Accountants in January 2016. She was nominated by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Prior to serving as a member of the IESBA, Ms. Snyder served since 1999 as the Technical Advisor to the US representatives on the IESBA.
Ms. Snyder is Director of Professional Ethics at the AICPA. In her role, Ms. Snyder oversees the activities of the Professional Ethics Division including its ethics enforcement and standard setting. The Division is also responsible for interpreting the Institute’s Code of Professional Conduct and provides guidance to membership, state CPA societies, and other interested parties on ethics and independence issues (e.g., via the ethics hotline). Ms. Snyder serves as liaison to the Professional Ethics Executive Committee, which is responsible for promulgating ethics and independence standards that are set forth in the AICPA’s Code of Professional Conduct. She also serves as liaison to the AICPA’s Independence/Behavioral Standards Subcommittee and the Technical Standards Subcommittee, which are responsible for enforcement of the AICPA Code against AICPA members.
Prior to joining the AICPA, Ms. Snyder was an Audit Manager at Deloitte & Touche, LLP working primarily with manufacturing clients. She has an MBA in Professional Accounting from Rutgers Graduate School of Management, Newark, New Jersey. She is a certified public accountant (CPA) in the states of New Jersey and New York and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Ms. Snyder is a member of the AICPA and New Jersey Society of CPAs.
