Makoto Shinohara

Makoto Shinohara became a member of the IFAC Board in November 2011.He was nominated by the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Previously, he served on the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) from 2006 to 2007.
Mr. Shinohara is an audit partner at Ernst & Young ShinNihon and has over 25 years’ experience on audit engagements. From 2000 to 2002, he served in the Japanese Financial Service Agency (FSA) as the Chief Accountant, and was involved in IFAC activities as an observer appointed by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). He was also a member of the Business Accounting Council of the Japanese FSA from 2008 to 2010.
Mr. Shinohara is very active in the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA). He has served JICPA Executive Board since 2007. Prior to this, he was a member of JICPA Council for three years. He has also served on various committees within the JICPA, including as Chairman of the Auditing Standards Committee.
