Having been a member of the IFAC Compliance Advisory Panel since its inception in 2004, Manuel Sánchez y Madrid became Chair of the committee in 2010. He was nominated by the Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos. Previously, he served as a member of the IFAC Nominating Committee from November 2002 to 2006, the IFAC Board from 1995 to 2000, the IFAC Executive Committee from 1997 to 2000, the IFAC Membership Committee, and as Chair of the IAPC Review Task Force in 2001.

Mr. Sánchez y Madrid is a retired audit partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Mexico City office and previously a member of its management committee and the firm's executive committee. He is a past Chairman of the Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos and served as a member of its Board and on several of its commissions.

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Sánchez y Madrid has published several technical articles on accounting and has given technical presentations on various accounting subjects.
