Maria Clara Cavalcante Bugarim is currently an external control analyst with the court in the state of Alagoas, Brazil. Previously in her career she was the auditor general for the state of Alagoas and tax advisor for the state bank in Alagoas. She began her career as the head of asset accounting and budget coordinator for the Security Institute of Alagoas, later become chief financial officer for the organization.
Ms. Cavalcante Bugarim is currently the vice president of Conselho Federal de Contabilidade, having served as CFC’s president from 2006 to 2009. She is also currently the president of the Brazilian Academy of Science in Accounting. Previous positions include chair of the Fundação Brasileira de Contabilidade and president of the Association of Servers IPASEAL and the Regional Accounting Council of Alagoas.
Ms. Cavalcante Bugarim has a PhD in engineering and management of knowledge from the Federal University of Santa Catarina as well as a master in controllership and accounting from the Universidade of São Paulo, a law degree from the University of Fortaleza (Unifor), and a specialty in audit and degrees in accounting sciences and business administration from the Center for Advanced Studies in Maceio.
