Dr. Masum Turker became a member of the IFAC Board in November 2011. He was nominated by the Expert Accountants' Association of Turkey (EAAT) and the Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants of Turkey (TÜRMOB).
Dr. Turker is a partner in Turkerler Auditing and Tax Consulting, Inc. in Istanbul, Turkey. He is a past president of TÜRMOB and past chair of the Turkish Auditing Standards Board. He has also served as the vice president of the Fédération des Experts Comptables Méditerranéens (FCM) and the South Eastern European Partnership on Accountancy Development. He has also served as a member of the IFAC Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee (2006-2011) and the Fédération des Experts Comptables Européens SMP Working Group
Dr. Turker is a former State Minister of Turkey, responsible for economics, and he was a Member of Parliament from Istanbul in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) from 1999 to 2002. In addition, he previously served as the president of EAAT and president of FCM, and was a member of the IFAC Education Committee (predecessor of the International Accounting Education Standards Board). He was also the president of TESMER, the Training and Education Center of TURMOB.
Dr. Turker is an assistant professor at Istanbul Commerce University (Turkey) and a visiting professor at Marmara Universities (Turkey) as a visiting professor.
