Milton Ayón

Milton Ayón became a member of the Professional Accountancy Organization (PAO) Development Committee in January 2012, nominated by the Colegio de Contadores Publicos Autorizados de Panama. He was previously he technical advisor for the committee, nominated by the Conselho Federal de Contabilidade (Brazil). Mr. Ayón is also a technical advisor for IFAC Board member Ana Maria Elorrieta.

Mr. Ayón is an audit partner at KPMG Panama and has 19 years of experience on audit engagements and 20 years of experience in the financial sector, having been appointed as General Manager of international insurance companies and international banks, including Banco Real and ABN AMRO. He is part of the KPMG Quality Review Team for Financial Institutions and the Industry Leader Partner for the Central American region, including the Dominican Republic.

Previously, Mr. Ayón served as director and president of the Banking Association of Panama and president of the Latin American Banking Federation (FELABAN). He was also president of the Colegio de Contadores Publicos Autorizados de Panamá from 2007 to 2009.

In addition to his professional experience, Mr. Ayón has written articles for global publications and presented lectures at numerous universities and international forums on association management, ethics, and corporate governance.

Mr. Ayón is a certified partner of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and professor at the Universidad Especializada del Contador Publico Autorizado (Panama), as well as an internal instructor of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) at KPMG Panama. He has a CPA license from Universidad de Panamá and a MBA from Nova Southeastern University (US).
