Peter Wolnizer OAM was appointed as Chair of the International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB) on January 1, 2012. He was nominated by The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). Dr. Wolnizer previously served on the IAESB from 2004 to 2006 and chaired the Education Committee of CPA Australia for nine years (2000-09).

Dr. Wolnizer is Professor Emeritus at the University of Sydney, where he served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business for twelve years (1999-2010) and as Professor of Accounting until his retirement on December 31, 2011. Additionally, he is a consultant in higher education. In 2011, he concluded two consecutive three-year terms of service on the Board of Directors of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International.

Dr. Wolnizer holds a BEc from the University of Tasmania (Australia) and MEc and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of both CPA Australia and ICAA. For his service to higher education in business and economics as an academic and administrator, Dr. Wolnizer was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2011 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
