Reyaz Mihular

Reyaz Mihular became a member of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants in January 2013. He was nominated by Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka).

Mr. Mihular is the managing partner of KPMG in Sri Lanka and is a board member of KPMG’s Middle East and South Asia (MESA) Regional Cluster. He previously worked as the regional executive officer of KPMG’s MESA regional office where he was responsible for coordinating strategy and activities of KPMG member firms across 17 countries. He presently continues to function as the head of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for the KPMG MESA region.

Mr. Mihular is a past president and fellow of CA Sri Lanka and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). He is presently the deputy chair of the Board of CIMA Sri Lanka Division.

Mr. Mihular served as a board member of the International Accounting Standards Committee (IASB) for a five-year term from July 1995 to December 2000. During this tenure, he served as the chair of the Steering Committee, which developed accounting standard International Accounting Standard (IAS) 41, Agriculture, and also served as a member of the steering committee that developed IAS 19, Employee Benefits. Subsequently, he served on the IASB’s Standing Interpretations Committee for a year and as a member of the Standards Advisory Council of the International Accounting Standards Board. He has also been an independent non-executive director in a number of key state institutions in Sri Lanka.
