Richard Petty became a member of the IFAC Board in November 2014, having been nominated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia – CPA Australia.
Dr. Petty is a former Chairman and President of CPA Australia (2009-2010). He is a Management Board member of the Australian Accounting Review, and editorial board member of the Journal of Intellectual Capital, and AAAJ.
Dr. Petty is a professor at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and has lectured at several other leading universities and been published in leading journals. Dr. Petty advises multinational companies, governments, and multilateral organizations on issues of competitiveness, strategy, and on doing business in Asia. He is frequently an invited keynote speaker at conferences.
He is a recipient of CPA Australia’s highest honor, Life Membership, in recognition of his service to the accountancy profession. He also has received awards as a researcher, as an editor of academic works, and as an educator.
Dr. Petty graduated with first-class honors in accounting and was awarded the university medal for his undergraduate studies. He holds a master’s degree (with honors) in Commerce, and a PhD. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (the amalgamation of ICAA and NZICA), the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) and a member of Young Presidents’ Organization.
