Stuart Barr joined the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) in January 2014, nominated by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. He previously served the IPSASB as technical advisor to IPSASB member Sheila Fraser from 2008 to 2013.
Mr. Barr is assistant auditor general, professional practices, with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and is responsible for the Office's audit methodology, quality assurance and related training. In this capacity, he leads the development of Office responses to proposed standards from all organizations that set accounting and auditing standards. He also currently serves as a member of the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Discussion Group and committees of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions.
He is a Certified Management Accountant and joined the Office in 1984 after obtaining an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Lakehead University.
