Stuart Barr is assistant auditor general, professional practices, with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and is responsible for the Office's audit methodology, quality assurance, and related training. In this capacity, he leads the development of Office responses to proposed standards from all organizations that set accounting and auditing standards.

Mr. Barr contributes to the establishment of auditing and accounting standards both in Canada and internationally as a task force member of the Public Sector Accounting Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of committees of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions.

Mr. Barr is a Certified Management Accountant and joined the Office in 1984 after obtaining an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Lakehead University.
