Theo Vermaak became chair of the Forum of Firms in January 2015. He previously served as a member of the Transnational Auditors Committee, representing PKF International, from 2006 to 2014.
Mr. Vermaak chairs the PKF International Professional Standards Committee (IPSC), and serves as the regional director for PKF in Africa. As IPSC chair, he has overall responsibility for the network’s assurance services policies, procedures, training and support, and its global quality assurance function.
Prior to joining PKF International on a full-time basis in September 2013, Mr. Vermaak held the position of principal with PKF O'Connor Davies in New York, where he also served in the role of director of accounting and auditing. While in New York, Mr. Vermaak was an international associate member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and associate member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), where he was also a member of the SEC Practice Committee.
Hailing from South Africa, Mr. Vermaak has worked and lived in Kenya, Slovenia, Slovakia, and the US, and has conducted training and seminars across the globe. His prior experience ranges from quality assurance and technical support to working in the treasury division of a large national bank.
Mr. Vermaak is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Global Forum for Ethics.
