Uttam Prakash Agarwal became a member of the Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee in January 2010. Mr. Agarwal previously served as technical advisor to the IFAC Board and the Professional Accountancy Organization Development Committee. 

Mr. Agarwal has over 20 years of multifaceted experience as a Chartered Accountant, specializing in taxation and management consultancy. He served as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) from 2009 to 2010 and has been a member of the ICAI's Central Council since 2004.

He is a member of the Disciplinary Committee constituted by the Council of the Institute of Actuaries of India nominated by the Ministry of Finance and a member the State Audit Advisory Board for the Indian Audit and Accounts Department Office.

Mr. Agarwal is on the board of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) and the CAPA Sub Committee on Environmental Accounting. He is a member of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and Chairman of SAFA SMP Committee. He also holds an honorary membership from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia.

He was awarded the “Recognition of Excellence Award” by the President of India, Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha Devisngh Patil for his work to further the growth and development of the accountancy profession in India.
