Dr. Zhiguo Yang joined the IFAC Board in November 2015. He was nominated by the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA).
Dr. Yang currently serves as the Deputy Secretary General and the Executive Director of the Council of CICPA, as well as Vice Chairman of CICPA’s Ethics Standards Board. He has shouldered a wide range of important responsibilities, including regulation of the profession, professional standards, and CPA examinations, as well as international affairs.
With 20 years of experience in the accounting profession, Dr. Yang has been extensively involved in the development of China’s accounting profession, particularly in converging Chinese auditing, ethics, and education standards with international ones, enhancing members’ performance, and strengthening CICPA’s governance.
Previously, Dr. Yang served as an IFAC Board member from 2010 to 2012. He was also a member of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board from 2002-2003. Dr. Yang is an Executive Board Member of the China Audit Society, and also served as CICPA Representative to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants for two terms.
Dr. Yang holds a PhD in economics from the Renmin University of China and an MA in economics from the Central University of Finance and Economics (China).
