Welcome

The IFAC Global Seminar and 32nd Annual Council Meeting were held November 17-18, 2009, at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., USA. This annual event convened over 200 representatives of the profession, including IFAC member bodies, regional organizations, regulators, and other external stakeholders from around the world.

This notable event, consisting of the IFAC Global Seminar, the IFAC Council Meeting, and Workshops, focused on the global financial crisis, IFAC-related strategic issues of special interest to our member bodies, and formal IFAC business.

We would like to thank the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for hosting this important event. 


IFAC Global Seminar

The IFAC Global Seminar took place on Tuesday, November 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C., USA. The seminar consisted of several sessions focused on the financial crisis, specifically on the causes of the downturn and the role of international standards in preventing future crises. The program sessions, Avoiding the Next Financial Crisis and A Global Economy: Auditing and Financial Reporting in the Public Interest, were spearheaded by industry leaders, such as David Walker, President & CEO, The Peter G. Peterson Foundation, Arnold Schilder, Chair, International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board, and Russell Roberts, Professor of Economics, George Mason University, to name a few. Council Meeting

The IFAC Council Meeting consisted of formal IFAC business and several workshops. Voting members may access agenda materials by logging into the IFAC Member Body Intranet (MemberNet).
