African Development Bank
The African Development Bank (AfDB) group predominantly aims to spur sustainable economic development and social progress in its regional member countries to reduce poverty by:
- Mobilizing and allocating resources for investment in regional member countries; and
- Providing policy advice and technical assistance to support development efforts.
AfDB has invested massively in the development of capacities in its regional member countries. The goal of its capacity building activities is to contribute to efforts at building sustainable capacity for development effectiveness in the institution’s regional member countries. AfDB’s African Development Institute conducts 20 training sessions each year across the continent in English and French to support the Bank’s strategic orientations as defined in its Medium-Term Strategy.
