Small and Medium Practices Committee |
The Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee represents the interests of professional accountants operating in small- and medium-sized practices and other professional accountants who provide services to small- and medium-sized enterprises. It develops papers on topics of global concern and provides input in the development of international standards and on the work of various IFAC boards and committees where appropriate.
Objectives
In representing the needs of this unique constituency, the SMP Committee seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- Directly work with IFAC boards and other standard-setting bodies to ensure that they are aware of and give due consideration to issues relevant to SMEs and SMPs.
- Facilitate the communication and sharing of information between member bodies, IFAC boards and committees and other external groups.
- Support SMPs that provide accounting and assurance services to SMEs by leveraging the work of member bodies and others.
- Identify other issues relevant to those providing accounting and assurance services to SMEs and develop guidance on these issues.
The SMP Committee's Strategic and Operational Plan 2009-2012 sets out the direction and priority for the committee in fulfilling these objectives.
