Gabriela Farías was joined the International Accounting Education Standards Board in January 2019 after being nominated by the Instituto Mexicano de Contadores Públicos, A.C. Ms. Farías has May 2018 by the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP).
Ms. Farías is currently Chair of Accounting and Finance Academic Department at Tecnológico de Monterrey, North Region, based in Monterrey, Nuevo León. She has served as Director of the Bachelor's Program in Public Accounting and Finance and participated in updating accounting curricula. She collaborates with the Instituto de Contadores Públicos de Nuevo León in Academic, Teaching and Research Activities.
Ms. Farías’ research interests are education in accounting and management for educational innovation. Her research work in education in accounting has been recognized by the National Autonomous University of Mexico and her contribution to training of future public accountants has been recognized by both Deloitte and EY, in addition to distinctions from IMCP.
Ms. Farías is a Certified Public Accountant and internal auditor (certified by the Institute of Internal Auditors) and holds a Certificate in Internal Control Self-Assessment from the IIA. She has taken graduate courses in accounting at the University of Texas at Dallas, and holds a Doctorate in Educational Innovation. She also holds the degrees of Master in Business Administration and Marketing from EGADE Business School.
In addition to her professional work, Ms. Farías has collaborated in the professionalization of non-profit social organizations and supports the Cursillo de Cristiandad movement in her community.
