Joy Thomas

Joy Thomas, MBA, FCPA, FCMA, joined the IFAC Board in November 2014. She was nominated by Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada). She is also a member of the IFAC Board’s Governance Committee.

Ms. Thomas is the Past President and CEO of CPA Canada, a national body representing more than 210,000 professional accountants in Canada and abroad. Ms. Thomas currently serves as a board director of the Global Accounting Alliance, a council member on the International Integrated Reporting Council, and is a member of the Canadian National Steering Committee on Financial Literacy.

Ms. Thomas has been involved in the profession for the past 27 years and worked as a corporate Controller and CFO in industry before joining CMA Nova Scotia and Bermuda in 1995. Her most recent appointment prior to leading CPA Canada was as President and CEO for CMA Canada.
