Prof. Kazuo Hiramatsu joined the International Accounting Education Standards Board as a public member in 2010. He was nominated by the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He has 40 years of teaching experience at Kwansei Gakuin University (Japan). Professor Hiramatsu has also given lectures at universities around the world, including Satya Wacana Christian University (Indonesia), the University of Glasgow (Scotland), the University of Washington (US), Ma Chung University (Indonesia), and Yonsei University (Korea). From 2002‐2008, Prof. Hiramatsu also served as the president of Kwansei Gakuin University.
Throughout his career, Prof. Hiramatsu has held numerous leadership positions in various accountancy organizations, including a member of the Science Council of Japan, president of the Japanese Association for International Accounting Studies, international vice president for the American Accounting Association (AAA), president of the Japan Accounting Association, and president of the International Association for Accounting Education and Research (IAAER).
For the accounting profession, he served as a member of the Business Accounting Council, Certified Public Accountants and Auditing Oversight Board, and Accounting Standards Board of Japan. He is currently serving as a member of Business Accounting Council and the Chair of the Translation Review Committee of IFRS.
Professor Hiramatsu has a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Business Administration of Kwansei Gakuin University. In 2005, he received the Outstanding International Accounting Educator Award from the AAA. In 2010, he received an honorary doctoral degree from Satya Wacana Christian University (Indonesia).
