Title: IPSASB Technical Advisor for Rod Monette
Leona Melamed became a technical advisor for Rod Monette in June 2015.
Ms. Melamed has served in the Government Accounting Policy and Reporting group of the Office of the Comptroller General of Canada since 2009. In her current role, she develops and implements accounting policies based on the standards of the Canadian Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB), and advises on complex accounting issues of the Government of Canada. Ms. Melamed contributes to public sector accounting standard-setting by preparing comments on PSAB and IPSASB accounting standards on behalf of the Office of the Comptroller General, and in her previous role as a PSAB task force member.
Ms. Melamed has more than 30 years of audit and accounting experience, including several years in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and planning at Canada Post Corporation, where she also worked on the implementation of International Financial Reporting Standards, and four years as an auditor for PWC Canada.
Ms. Melamed is a Chartered Professional Accountant and holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Manchester (United Kingdom).
