Dr. Masum Turker became a member of the IFAC Board in November 2011. He was nominated by the Expert Accountants' Association of Turkey (EAAT) and the Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants of Turkey (TÜRMOB).
Dr. Turker is a Partner in Turkerler Auditing and Tax Consulting, Inc. in Istanbul, Turkey. He will serve as President of the Fédération des Experts Comptables Méditerranéens (FCM) beginning in January 2016. He previously served as President of TÜRMOB (2008-2010), President of EAAT (2005-2007), and President of FCM (2004-2006). He was a member of the IFAC Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee (2006-2011) as well as the IFAC Education Committee (predecessor of the International Accounting Education Standards Board).
Dr. Turker is a former State Minister of Turkey, responsible for economics, and he was a Member of Parliament from Istanbul in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) from 1999 to 2002. A professional accountant since 1971 and an auditor since 1974, Dr. Turker was Chairman of the Turkish Auditing Standards Board, Vice President of FCM, and Vice President of the South Eastern European Partnership on Accountancy Development (SEEPAD). During his career he has served as CEO, board member, board chairman and auditor in several companies and banks.
Dr. Turker served as an Assistant Professor at Istanbul Commerce University and was a visiting professor at Istanbul University. He received a PhD in Accounting and Taxation from the Institute of Social Sciences of Istanbul University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Istanbul University. He has written books and had articles published in national and international accounting publications on auditing and taxation issues.
