Mike Hathorn joined the IFAC Board in November 2013, nominated by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).

Mr. Hathorn is the Chief Operating Officer for Moore Stephens International Limited (2013). He is also a non-executive director of a private construction company, having previously been a non-executive director and Chairman of a listed investment company and a number of UK government agencies. Mr. Hathorn was a public sector specialist Partner with Moore Stephens LLP, London, for 10 years; prior to that he was Managing Partner of Moore Stephens Scotland for 15 years.

Mr. Hathorn is also a past president of ICAS, where he has served on the Council and various committees over the past 30 years.

Mr. Hathorn previously served as a member of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) for 10 years, including as Vice Chairman from 2004 to 2006 and Chairman from 2007 to 2009. He was admitted to CIPFA in 1988.
