Saadiya Adam is the Professional Manager for Ethics at the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) in South Africa. She is the Secretariat to the Committee for Auditor Ethics (CFAE), a statutory committee established by South Africa’s Auditing Profession Act. The CFAE provides advice to registered auditors on matters of professional ethics and conduct. It also assists the IRBA to determine what constitutes improper conduct by auditors in South Africa by developing rules and guidelines for professional ethics. These include an IRBA Code of Professional Conduct for Registered Auditors, which is based on the IESBA Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. In addition, the CFAE engages with professional bodies and any other body or organ of state with an interest in the auditing profession on any matter relating to the CFAE’s functions and powers.

Saadiya is a chartered accountant in South Africa—CA (SA)— a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a Certified Ethics Officer with The Ethics Institute of Southern Africa.
