Advancing accountancy education is integral to IFAC’s vision of a global accountancy profession that is recognized as essential to strong and sustainable organizations, financial markets, and economies. Competent and credible professional accountants, committed to lifelong learning, underpin this vision. To remain relevant in an environment of rapid change professional accountants increasingly must demonstrate skills beyond today’s typically-recognized accountancy competencies.
In response to the challenges of a rapidly changing environment, IFAC and the International Accounting Education Standards Board announced a new approach to advancing accountancy education. This approach—which is designed to be relevant, responsive, effective, and open—reflects IFAC’s continued commitment to accountancy education, plays to IFAC’s comparative advantages, optimizes internal resources, and leverages external resources. Important components of the approach will be a new advisory International Panel on Accountancy Education and a multi-stakeholder engagement framework.
IFAC has issued this Call on IFAC Members and Forum of Firms to identify key accountancy education stakeholders who will assist IFAC in developing a multi-stakeholder database to support implementation of an engagement framework (due June 7, 2019).
Information for the database can be submitted to altaprinsloo@ifac.org.
