|Project Objectives:||To support family run and other aspiring businesses in Myanmar to grow and, where relevant, attract external funding through the adoption of good corporate governance to help underpin long-term company performance.|
|Key Project Components:||ACCA, in partnership with the UK Financial Services Taskforce delivered two events focusing on financial accountability and risk management – key aspects of corporate governance that were addressed within local businesses to enhance transparency and encourage external investor confidence. A particular emphasis was placed on the role of financial reporting/accounting and internal controls and how they contribute to sound oversight.|
|Key Project Outputs:||Event 1 - A structured daylong event attended by 70-80 business leaders from Myanmar’s leading corporations. The event focused on reporting and internal control as part of corporate governance. Key experts were invited to present their perspectives – supporting discussion and development to enhance growth and inward investment in Burmese businesses.
Event 2 - A round-table discussion hosted by the British Ambassador to Burma, was held with 15-20 business leaders from Myanmar’s leading corporations. Attendees discussed financial reporting and internal controls as the key component of good corporate governance.
|Key Project Outcomes:||Participants in both events discussed and received valuable information on the value of financial reporting and internal controls, and explored solutions to key challenges.|
