
Aiko Sekine

Aiko Sekine joined the Nominating Committee in January 2019, nominating by the Japanese Institute of CPAs (JICPA).
Ms. Sekine is an advisor to the Japanese Institute of CPAs (JICPA), and a former chairman and president of the JICPA. She is a Professor at Waseda University. She also serves as a member of the IFRS Advisory Council, chair of Councilors of Financial Accounting Standards Foundation in Japan, a member of Business Accounting Council of Japan Financial Services Agency. She is also a non-executive Director of ORIX Corporation (chairs audit committee), and an Audit and Supervisory Board Member of Sumitomo Riko Company Limited and IHI Corporation.
Ms. Sekine has extensive experience in audits of financial statements for Japanese US SEC registrants and audits of financial statements under Japanese Corporate Law and Financial Instruments and Exchange Law as partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Aarata in Japan.
Prior to becoming the chairman and president, she served as deputy president and Executive Board member of JICPA, with a proven record of contributions in quality control, professional ethics, auditing standards, accounting standards and IFRS, as well as in international affairs. Ms. Sekine also held a variety of senior and technical positions such as a board member of International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants, a board member of the Accounting Standards Board of Japan, a member of Standards Advisory Council of Financial Accounting Standards Foundation in Japan, and a council member of the International Integrated Reporting Council.
Ms. Sekine graduated from the School of Science and Engineering of Waseda University in Tokyo.
