IFAC and the Edinburgh Group have launched a new, interactive version of our Small Business Sustainability Checklist.

This is a dynamic diagnostic tool designed to be tailored by each business according to its unique circumstances, including its industry sector and lifecycle and the products and services it provides. The Checklist contains a comprehensive range of initiatives and actions to be considered in terms of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.

Not every action in the Checklist will be relevant to every SME, but it will help all organizations to take small steps on their sustainability journeys.

We developed the Checklist as part of our work on Practice Transformation, which highlights the need for small- and medium-sized practices (SMPs) to adapt to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world. SMPs are ideally placed to help SMEs with sustainability because of their deep business knowledge and expertise. We also encourage SMPs to use the Checklist to consider their own strategy, policies, and procedures on sustainability. This is critical to their sustainability transformation, as well as their ability to attract and retain the next generation of talent.

To complement the Checklist, we have prepared a dedicated web page that provides material on sustainability reporting, advisory, assurance, and education and training.

The original, static version of the Checklist is still available for download.
