Aruhvi Krishnasammy

World Bank Consultant, Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation

Aruhvi Krishnasammy is a Consultant at the World Bank Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Hub in Malaysia for the Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation Global Practice, working closely with sustainability, inclusivity, and Islamic Finance agendas. Before joining the World Bank, she worked at the Securities Commission Malaysia, specializing in market surveillance and monitoring of emerging risks in the local capital market and guiding and regulating alternative financing entities. In addition, she has experience working in RBC – Investor and Treasury Services and OCBC Bank Malaysia. Aruhvi holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Aruhvi is also a Pusat PERMATApintar and University of Tsukuba TAG-AIMS 2018 alumni.

Soraya Azhar

Job Title

Financial Sector Specialist

Soraya Azhar is a Financial Sector Specialist at Malaysia’s World Bank Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Finance Hub. Since joining the Bank in early 2023, she has contributed to various analytical work on sustainable, inclusive, and Islamic finance in Malaysia, East Asia, and the Pacific region. Most recently, she led the analytical work on the World Bank report “Tracking Progress: Impact Monitoring of Social Finance.” 

Before joining the World Bank Group, Soraya worked at Bank Negara Malaysia for over ten years and specialized in financial supervision, sustainable finance development, and global financial safety net. In Bank Negara Malaysia, she led the development of the Green AgriTech program to facilitate the transition into sustainable agriculture practices and build resilience in climate change for smallholder farmers in Malaysia. 

Soraya holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbia University, USA, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

Cecile Thioro Niang

Job Title

Practice Manager, Finance, Competitiveness and Innovation, East Asia & Pacific

Ms. Niang, a dual Senegalese and French national, is the Practice Manager for East Asia and Pacific, covering the Pacific Islands, Indonesia/Timor and Philippines, Thailand, and Malaysia for the Finance, Competitiveness & Innovation Global Practice at the World Bank Group. Since joining the Bank in 2004, she has held various positions working on long-term infrastructure finance, climate finance, financial inclusion; firm capabilities and innovation, markets and technology, investment and competition, telecoms and digital development, with her most recent assignment being Lead Economist in the LAC Finance Competitiveness and Innovation team.

Niang’s prior positions at the World Bank Group before assuming her current position spent six years in Latin America & the Caribbean region, as Lead Economist in Finance, Competitiveness, and Innovation Global Practice and as Program Leader for the Caribbean countries. She held Country Sector Coordinator and Senior Economist positions in South Asia and Africa in the World Bank’s Finance and Private Sector Development department,.

Before joining the World Bank Group, Cecile was an Associate Manager of Business Development at France Telecom North America and a Director, Corporate Development at Juno Online, a US Internet Service Provider. Cecile holds graduate degrees in economics, business administration, and information Systems from Columbia University, Paris Dauphine, and Telecom Ecole de Management.

Peter Hollis

Peter Hollis is a chartered accountant and has been in practice as a sole practitioner in Sheffield, UK since 1990. He acts for a wide range of principally owner-managed businesses, individuals and charities.

Throughout this time, he has served his professional body, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), in a number of roles. He has chaired its General Practitioner Panel and Practice Committee, served six years on its lead technical committee the Technical Strategy Board, and has just completed eleven years as an elected member of its ruling Council. He is passionate about helping practitioners operate efficient and effective practices and ensuring that regulation is proportionate and scalable.

Previously he was an audit manager at Hawsons, a large local firm of chartered accountants where he mainly dealt with listed companies. He has served as a committee member and President of the Sheffield & District Society of Chartered Accountants, a member of the Court of the University of Sheffield, and as Treasurer of South Yorkshire Community Foundation.

Peter currently sits as a technical adviser to the IFAC SMPAG.

Norie Takahashi

Norie Takahashi is a partner at KPMG Japan and is now on full secondment to the IFRS Foundation’s Connectivity and Integrated Reporting team. She has more than 20 years of experience in financial auditing, in various industries such as retail, chemical, hospitality and financial. Alongside financial auditing, she had also been part of KPMG Japan’s Sustainability Value Headquarters, where she had been involved in the research and outreach related to integrated reporting in Japan and overseas. She had also been partially seconded to the International Integrated Reporting Council during 2015 to 2020 and had been the Japan region lead during 2018 to 2020.

Michael Bray is Professor of Practice (Integrated Reporting) at Deakin University and Special Adviser to the Chief Connectivity and Integrated Reporting Officer of the IFRS Foundation. He was a Director of the International Integrated Reporting Council between 2017 and 2020, at which time he stepped off the IIRC Board to join its management team. He was an audit partner at KPMG for 27 years between 1989 and 2016 and a Director of its Better Business Reporting practice between 2016 and 2020.

Rachel Chee

Job Title

Executive Director, Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants

Rachel joined CAPA in June 2023. Prior to her current role, she held senior positions at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) from 2012 to 2023. As Head of Education and Regional Consultant, Rachel was responsible for advancing education and capacity building initiatives across the Asia-Pacific region.

From 2008 to 2011, Rachel served as the Technical Director of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA). In this capacity, she led the Institute’s technical department, fostering collaboration with regulatory bodies and international organizations. She also played a pivotal role in standard-setting, training and implementation support for the accounting profession in Malaysia. Additionally, Rachel contributed as a Technical Advisor to the IFAC Developing Nations Committee and Small-and-Medium Practices Committee.

Rachel began her career as an auditor with BDO Malaysia. She is a Fellow member of ACCA and a member of MIA. Beyond her professional roles, Rachel also serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director for a public listed company in Malaysia.
