The Suriname Chartered Accountants Institute (SCAI) is a small but determined professional accountancy organization (PAO) based in Paramaribo, Suriname. Established by law in 2018, SCAI emerged from a decade-long grassroots movement led by dedicated professionals who believed Suriname deserved a strong and credible accountancy profession.

Despite its size and limited resources, SCAI has made impressive progress in strengthening institutional capacity, implementing a quality assurance (QA) system, rolling out CPD programs, and aligning with IFAC’s Statements of Membership Obligations (SMOs). As a recognized stakeholder, SCAI now collaborates with the Government of Suriname, the Central Bank, and the private sector on matters of financial reporting and regulation.
