“It’s not about advancing women—it’s about working together, men and women, … for the benefit of the profession,” according to Yasmine El-Ramly, Senior Technical Manager of Firm Services and Global Alliances at the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). Ms. El-Ramly discusses her experience leading the AICPA’s Women’s Leadership Initiative and offers her perspective on why the future is bright for women in the accountancy profession. “To have a strong, sustainable profession, we need [to draw from the entire] talent pool—the best talent, men and women together.” However, to reach this goal, we also need to a culture change in some of the organizations we work with to be more inclusive and offer opportunities for all.
