During a recent outreach trip to South Africa, IAASB Chairman Prof. Arnold Schilder was a guest on CNBC Africa's "Closing Bell South Africa" program, where he discussed the new and revised auditor reporting standards and their importance to stakeholders.
The World Economic Forum has ranked South Africa’s auditing and reporting standards #1 in the world in its Global Competitiveness Index for 2014-2015.
"Auditor reporting in the future will become much more informative to outside users that so far didn't hear anything from the auditor except the final conclusion, the auditor's opinion," Prof. Schilder told CNBC Africa. "In the future, you will see five, six pages with unique information coming from the auditor about the audit and that's very relevant to users of that information."
During the ISCA Ethics Forum as part of the Singapore Accountancy Convention 2014, Mr. James Sylph, Recently Retired Executive Director, Professional Standards & External Relations, IFAC, answers 5 questions of the state of ethics and governance in the accountancy profession as well as the future of ethics.

IFAC President Warren Allen discussed the relationship between financial reporting and governance in remarks to the 3rd Saudi-Pak Accountancy Symposium, held May 15, 2014.
"The financial information is used to make economic decisions about an organization, its resources, and its future," he said. "The quality of that information will affect the quality of decision-making at every level."

CReCER 2013: Integrating Approaches to Financial Reporting to Advance Regional Economic Growth: An Exchange between Public and Private Sector
IFAC, along with the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Global Public Policy Committee, held the seventh Conference for Accounting and Accountability for Regional Economic Growth, or CReCER (Contabilidad y Responsabilidad para el Crecimiento Económico Regional) in Cartagena, Colombia, in August 2013, hosted by IFAC member body the Instituto Nacional de Contadores Públicos de Colombia.
Themed Integrating Approaches to Financial Reporting to Advance Regional Economic Growth: An Exchange between Public and Private Sector, the conference drew more than 350 attendees and speakers and covered important topics, such as national and regional initiatives to advance adoption and implementation of international standards; global perspectives on the evolving role of auditors and accountants; recent capital market developments to support investment; and the future of business reporting, including integrated reporting.
