IFAC’s Strategic Plan is a global roadmap designed to help guide the work of the accountancy profession. It reflects the priorities of our 180 member organizations, which collectively serve the public interest by ensuring that society has access to a robust, ethical and future ready workforce of professional accountants.

A worldwide search has launched for volunteers to serve as members on the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB), an independent standard-setting body that serves the public interest by setting high-quality standards for use by public sector entities globally in the preparation of general purpose financial reports.

This digitally interactive report looks back at 2022 through the eyes of the IESBA, complete with detailed reports on the Board’s projects alongside reflective remarks from its leaders.

In 2020 we produced an evergreen Strategic Plan: one that has the flexibility to adapt to emerging opportunities and risks, but which is also anchored in our Vision, Purpose, Values, and Strategic Objectives, which have proven durable and stood the test of time.

Several factors influenced our thinking as we worked on updating the Strategic Plan for 2023.

The IAASB Public Report details progress to support the public interest between July 2019 and December 2020. During this 18-month period, the IAASB completed five major standards aimed at enhancing audit and assurance quality, adopted a four-year strategy focused on the public interest, and established a new work plan focused on emerging issues. During this period, the IAASB responded to a new environment sparked by the global pandemic by issuing guidance and engaging with a broad range of stakeholders in order to sustain trust in audit and assurance.

The IAASB’s public report summarizing the board’s achievements from January 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019, has been released. This period, chaired by Professor Arnold Schilder, was one of great productivity for the board.
