CA. Prasanna Kumar D. is the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for 2026-2027. He earlier served as its Vice President in the year 2025-26. He has served three consecutive terms on the ICAI Central Council since 2019.

He is a Chartered Accountant with four decades of experience in the field of corporate audit & taxation and as a speaker on corporate laws and bank audit.

Over the years, he has chaired several key ICAI committees and spearheaded initiatives focused on to institutional strengthening, governance and member welfare. He chairs ICAI’s research and development wings such as Accounting Research Foundation (ICAI ARF) and Extensible Business Reporting language (XBRL) India

CA. Prasanna Kumar is also on the Board of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and National Financial Reporting Authority. He is also the member of Governing Council of National Foundation for Corporate Governance (NFCG) and Primary Market Advisory Committee (PMAC) set up by SEBI.

He also serves as Director on the boards of Institute of Social Auditors of India (ISAI), ICAI Registered Valuers Organisation (ICAI RVO), The Indian Institute of Insolvency Professionals of ICAI (IIIPI) and ICAI International ADR Centre. 

On the international stage, currently CA Kumar is the Board Member of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and represents ICAI at Board meetings of PAFA and AFA.  Previously, he represented ICAI on SAFA committees for Small and Medium Practices (2020-2021) and Education, Training, and CPD (2021-2023), driving global initiatives for ICAI’s growth and recognition.
