Samuel Leigh Burke

Title: Chair

Samuel Burke was appointed Chair of the IFAC Transnational Auditors Committee in January 2019.

Mr. Burke is currently the Global Independence Leader of the PwC global network of firms and the PwC US firm's Partner Responsible for Independence. He joined PwC as a partner in 2003. Mr. Burke is also currently the chair of the American Institute of CPA's Professional Ethics Executive Committee.

From June 2000 to June 2003, Mr. Burke served at the US Securities and Exchange Commission as an Associate Chief Accountant in the Office of the Chief Accountant. Prior to his experience at the SEC, Mr. Burke was an auditor in public accounting.

Mr. Burke graduated in 1989 from Elon University in North Carolina with a B.S. in Accounting and currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Love School of Business. He is a member of the AICPA and is licensed in Virginia, New York, and New Jersey.
